Meet Sam

Beautiful people making beautiful work. Raindrop is full of talented and creative characters. Just Raindrop Things is a new blog series where we feature our Raindroppers.
Get to know your Brand Coordinator, Sam! What is your favorite brand, and why? Kanye West. He’s an egomaniac music genius who genuinely wants to make the world better & actually stubborn enough to do it. He also makes dope shoes. From the looks of it, you spend a lot of time outside on the weekends. What are the top 3 hikes in San Diego you recommend everyone checks out? 1. Stonewall Peak is a gorgeous short hike that offers a 360 view of San Diego. It’s so beautiful, I cry every time I go there (but I suck the tear back into my eye because I can’t take pictures with watery eyes) 2. Anza Borrego is a magical place to just hike & lose yourself in nature (although it’s technically outside of SD) 3. Iron Mountain has a fantastic sunrise view (if you’re willing to wake up & hike for 2+ hours to beat the sun) What is your favorite album and why? Kids See Ghosts’ self-titled album. It’s a visceral musical journey where Kid Cudi & Kanye West mix rap with psychedelic rock. Through their emotional trek, they share about their losses and tackle their personal demons but ultimately find redemption. It’s something I very much relate to. If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be? The 3 C’s – cool, confident, creative If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be? The TV show Community. It’s about 7 misfits trying to figure out life while stuck at community college. It’s a quirky, hilarious breakdown of the human experience. It captures the complexity of human relationships and condenses them into 20 minute episodes that make you laugh, cry, and gasp. Also Childish Gambino was a main character in it for 5 seasons. And he’s awesome. #ThisIsAmerica   As a photographer, what is your greatest source of inspiration? I have two sources. For my actual photography style I am inspired by photographer Samuel Elkins. He edits pictures to have high contrast and gorgeous tones. It’s so beautiful, it’s to die for. My other source is my friend Tiffany. She’s a friend from college that inspired me to embrace a creative life and discover myself through art. Through many late night conversations about the meaning of life, movies, and art, she inspired me to view the world through a bubbling, beautiful, and (sometimes) blurry lens. And I love her for it.
